We finally meet Tina

Help

Mathieu and I decided to walk about 200 yards to the main road to meet Tina who had driven. Previously we had been talking about a spooky french monster called "Loup de Garou" Filled with that spirit we made a movie. The 'still' is the last shot of the movie that goes by so quickly, yet is so perfect, I thought it worth seeing, even though it is a photo of the computer screen.

Mathieu's birthday gift to MJ

We know a lot of people born in October. At least ten. Six of which are in our combined families. Monique and I have two friends who live in Nice. Mathieu and Marie Jo. Mathieu's birthday present to Marie Jo was to treat her to a long weekend at our place. Tina who helped us celebrate on one of those days, also has a birthday in October. Here are some photos and a short movie.

New Dress

I'm always amazed at how many projects Monique has cooking in her head. Quite a feast really. Monique bought this dress before we left the states. And while she loved the style it was to short for an 'older woman'. So she had to cook up some idea on how to make it look 'age appropriate.' Here are before and after photos.

Dream houses

Their are many many dream houses in this area. So far all of them are out of our price range. That's what makes it a dream right? If you don't have a dream, how will you ever have a dream come true? I should ask Ken Wilber, "Where does the light come from that lights your dreams?" At any rate here are some photos of another dream property.

Olivia's Birthday Card

Happy Birthday Olivia
Our birthdays catch us in the strangest places. In between your last birthday and this one a billion things have happened some good some bad, but all unique to you. All part of your story. I'm glad to be part of your story. You've accomplished some amazing things this last year. Your mom thinks you're a Star and so do I. Eat three good meals a day. Especially crunchy stuff with onions!!!!
Proud of you.

When entered the foyer of th gallery the entire floor walls and ceiling were covered in this blue and white floral motif. I thought would it be fun to cover it in something else. This is how a series is born. My friend Virginia G. said always do ten in a series. I try to do that.

Some of the ideas in the gallery could be shocking to some. I thought it apropos that patrons had to cross a yellow caution line before entering.

The man handcuffed to his own ankle was one of the most intriguing pieces. I really took these photos of the gallery goers.

both the column of taggers and the girl photographer are not real

Biennnale De Lyon

This weekend we had to travel to Lyon to take care of several items of business. One being to stand in line for two hours with a hundred other immagrants, only to wait inside for another couple of hours, only to be told that my cartes de sejours is in Paris and that I would have to come back in Nov. Christophe and Peggy were having a house warming party and a birthday party for a couple of Monique's nephews. One of whom I will call "The Parisien". We also spent 3 days with our new friends Michelle and Marcel. On one of those days, while monique went to visit her mom, the three of us went to one of the biennale art expositions. First we caught a boat that dropped us off at the door step of the museum which used to be an old sugar factory. Marvelous space. Once inside we were bombarded with 'ideas'. I was inspired. Here are some photos. But only a few because their web site is so much better. www.biennaledelyon.com

Amazing People

My amazing daughter and her equally amazing boyfriend Jon, (where are the grandkids?)recently sent me a letter to give me an update on their activities. They spent a month in California where they were the guest speakers for two of Tony Robbins Life Mastery Workshops. Then they traveled to Colorado Springs, where they met with the USA Olympic swim team who was interested in their methods of whole body training. Before they left Colorado they went to visit a place where they rehabilitate wolves. Here's a photo of Jon howling and touching one of them on it's back. I wouldn't expect any less from these two.

Happy Birthday Marie Jo

Marie Jo had a birthday this week. Mathew is treating her to a birthday present, which is a visit to our place. We haven't seen either of them in a couple of years.

Well I've been waiting for this moment, but it sort of took me by surprise. I didn't even realise that I had done it until I was driving home. I HAD MY FIRST FIVE MINUTE CONVERSATION IN FRENCH!!!! I went by myself to buy a 'Scie Onglet' an electric mitre saw so that I could cut precise 45 degree angles. Not only did I speak french for five minutes, I spoke french with three hardware store guys. Furthermore, what's even more amazing to me,is that, because there was only the floor model left of the brand I was trying to buy, I actually tried to talk them down in price!!!!It didn't work. This is not the States. But I'm still really happy.

Monique Peek 1

I'm starting to label this type of photo as the 'Monique Peek'. I already have a dozen or so, but I'll name this as the the first in the series.

I'm lazy. I should get up earlier.
